(1) I can backup to this drive without any problems using the Windows 8 Acronis online/realtime backup executable. This file can not be deleted, and a windows disk check and repair must be performed to correct the Filesystem errors on the external HDD. If I explore the External HDD in Windows 8, I can see the destination image filename in the expected location with a filesize of 0 bytes. If I cancel the backup the cancel does not work, and I must forcefully power down the PC.

The HDD access LED on the drive indicates continuous read/write activity, but the HDD LED on the PC seems top indicate noting is being read from the source partition. However the backup hangs shortly after starting the partition image creation and does not progress. When using the bootable media (Via CD or USB), I can see the 3TB HDD and all of its folders from the Acronis GUI, and can initiate a backup to a location on the HDD with no problems. I have an external Desktop Buffalo 3TB HDD.
